EDUCATION

The first step is always education. To this end we at CXI have created a scholastic program consisting of an educational video, a teachers classroom kit and student workbooks. This program will create a "push-pull" relationship with the community as a whole. The workbook exercises will educate not only the student but the family as well. The database which will evolve from this program will privide a "Carbon User Profile" for each community which may be shared and aggregated on a local or national basis.

It is the view of CXI that only when the general public is fully engaged can the problem of climate change be addressed. We intend to move from junior school to senior grades and into the wider community. Our program will address awareness of the greater part of the emissions that bring about climate change. Large emitters are visible and must be addressed first but approximately 70% of the problem is the result of daily decisions outside the realm of large industries. It is how travel, how we live and the products we use.

Through awareness will come the demand for action. Ultimately this will result in the need for a marketplace to monetize the success of emissions mitigation. At that time CXI will be ready to provide the Global Carbon Exchange.

FOREST SEQUESTRATION

CXI supports a natural system of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). It is widely recognized, and supported by international treaties, that global economies need to reduce their corbon dioxide emissions and many approaches have shown success, but ultimately we need to determine what is to be done with emissions that cannot be avoided. CCS is generally accepted as a technology to be implemented for the long-term removal of carbon emissions from the global biosphere. The truth is that CCS protocols have an inherent weakness; the possibility of system failure and sudden, massive release of stored carbon dioxide.

CXI provides a natural approach to carbon sequestration. The forests of the world represent carbon sinks of massive scale and maximum long-term reliability. We will work with stakeholders to initiate, register and manage forest sequestration projects. Further, when carbon certificates are realized from the project CXI will act for the project owner to monetize their value via global carbon trading.

TRADING

Welcome to the first truly global carbon-trading platform. CXI is committed to provide a safe verifiable market for the trading of Carbon commodities. We accept only certified instruments for trading that are backed by the highest standards of verification. Clients may choose to deal in UNFCCC certified Credits, WCI issued Allowances or other certificates of equally high quality.

CXI’s Alternate Trading System (ATS) not only addresses our local and immediate goals but also fits with the ultimate global model that must evolve by 2012/14. To focus on local solutions is to encourage “leakage” where emitters simply move to a different jurisdiction. A truly global solution will recognize the “one world” concept that states we all breathe the same air and that the forests of South America or Canada are the lungs of the planet and we all have a responsibility in that regard.

The global carbon market is already estimated to exceed $125Billion a year despite the recent economic downturn.  This has been achieved in a very fragmented market. What we provide is a stable, secure and well-regulated venue for this market to mature. As a result of global recognition of Ontario’s leadership regarding the Green Energy Act, Toronto is well positioned to anticipate this evolution and provide an effective market today that will attract this global business beyond 2012.

CXI allows clients to monetize the true social value of their green initiatives as well as their standing forests. Carbon Certificates represent a finished product that can be exported for full value. Here is a real opportunity to deliver maximum benefit to developing economies while creating significant new business opportunities. Real Foreign Trade instead of Foreign Aid.
